Knee Deep Brewing Co. Hop Shortage

We had intended on presenting a recipe today, until Zach found out that it’s National IPA Day. With none in the fridge, we drove to our favorite grocery store and I picked three different IPAs, two from California and one from England. The first one I opened, Hop Shortage by Knee Deep Brewing Co. of Lincoln, CA (close to my hometown) is strong enough at 11.3% ABV that this will be the only one I get to tonight! As a triple-hopped IPA from the West Coast, this is extremely hoppy. The label says the IBU ranks at “no shortage here!” I looked it up, and one source says 133 IBU! This may be the beer with the highest IBU I’ve ever had, and I like it. The ABV is very high also, so the alcohol flavor itself almost outshines the hops, but 133 IBU is hard to compete with, since the bitterness becomes more of an experience than a flavor. If you like hops like I do, this is an intense way to celebrate IPAs on this special day.
