This really is the beer for raspberry lovers, and not blue raspberry.  Marin Brewing Co. managed to incorporate the aroma and flavor of natural raspberries in this ale (and I just found out they also make ales with blueberry and peach essence; people who know me know what I’ll seek next).  This ranks at 5% ABV and 20 IBU, and while it’s the faintest bit astringent, I can’t call it sweet.  The addition of natural raspberry flavor is more tart and floral than sweet, only fitting because this beer reflects the season: bright like the summer, but not saccharine (I would use that adjective around Christmas).  It doesn’t particularly strike me as a beer for pairing with food – with something like this, I’d rather enjoy the beer for beer’s sake.
