Long days in the catering kitchen are rough.  I’m not a professionally trained chef by any means, and my line cook skills are somewhat questionable, so the day feels even longer to me when I’m working alongside Chef Zach.  It’s days like today, when we know we won’t have time for a recipe or a restaurant to report on for Seasoning And Salt, that the enticement of a cold beer maintains my motivation through the hours.  Rogue Ales of Oregon, which uses no chemicals, additives, or preservatives in its ales, lagers, porters, and stouts, has won a few awards for Hazelnut Brown Nectar ale with 6% ABV and 33 IBU.  It is dark and heavy, with a mild nutty aroma and aftertaste.  At the end of a 12-hour working day, this is a great brown ale for unwinding.  Here’s to a good night’s sleep after enjoying this brew!
