Two Milkshakes, Chocolate and Caramel
It would be insane to put on the Can You Beat the Heat? dinner party without any respite from the spiciness. Thoughtful caterer and event planner Chef Zach new that our palates would need something to help cool down between bites, so he came up with two milkshakes – one for the appetizers, and one for the entree.
Each recipe makes about four 12-oz cups
• For the chocolate milkshake:
1 quart of vanilla bean ice cream (we like Straus Family Creamery)
1 cup of dark chocolate, chopped
1 cup of whole milk (also from Straus if available to you)
1/2 cup of Hershey’s chocolate syrup
Blend all ingredients in a blender. For fancy presentation, stripe the inside of the glass with the chocolate syrup before pouring the milkshake, and reserve some chopped dark chocolate for a sprinkling of shavings.
• For the caramel milkshake:
1 quart of vanilla bean ice cream (Straus Family Creamery)
1 cup of vanilla caramel sauce (use the link for our caramel recipe)
3/4 cup of whole milk (again, Straus)
Blend all ingredients in a blender. For fancy presentation, stripe the inside of the glass with caramel before pouring the milkshake, and spoon some on top, as well.
