Heretic Brewing Co. Gramarye Rye Pale Ale

(Always drink responsibly.  Seek help when alcohol affects your life and the lives of those around you.  For readers of a legal drinking age.)

This is my third encounter with Heretic Brewing.  The first two were above par, so I had high expectations for this one.  Don’t worry, the expectations were met and I have nothing bad to say at all about Gramarye, a rye pale ale with 4.4% ABV and 28 IBU.  The style of beer I typically enjoy is usually higher in alcohol content and bitterness, but the first of those two qualities is not a factor in why I like a beer.  Four point four percent is a respectable amount, and when paired with low bitterness, the flavor of the rye malt is allowed to come through stronger.  It is a super rich tasting brew, surprising because there isn’t a heavy alcohol impact nor an overwhelming mouth feel.  Maybe it’s a bit of magic.
