Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga’ Substitute Ale
Welcome to the first post of our new category, Specialty Brews! While we do not condone consumption of alcohol, we do enjoy it once in a while and always responsibly. This selection of posts will feature unique beers – those that are local, seasonal, specially crafted, or have interesting ingredients. Zach doesn’t like beer too much, so these posts are concepted, tasted, and written solely by August.
My first words upon sipping this beer tonight: “Why does this have to be limited release?!” Ever since college and trying Racer 5 on tap at Raleigh’s on Telegraph (now closed), I have loved IPAs and higher IBUs. This new, limited release from Lagunitas clocks in at IBU 63.21, but the strong, deep nectarine flavor is most impressive. The alcohol level is at 7.85% – not the strongest beer, but it definitely warms your fingers. Look for this and try some before it’s gone!
